Budget 2008 and other Financial Information

Enterprise, a progressive city of approximately 22,000, is located in southeast Alabama, 80 miles south of Montgomery  and 85 miles north of Panama City Beach, Florida. The Enterprise City School System is comprised of 6 elementary schools, 3 junior highs, and one high school. Student enrollment in the system exceeds 5,000. The system employs approximately 390 professionals, 220 support staff and operates under an annual budget of approximately $30 million.

The Enterprise City Schools were the first in Alabama to be fully accredited by the State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Students within the system consistently score above state and national averages on such nationally-normed tests as the American College Test (ACT) and the Stanford Achievement Test.

Records indicate that 26% of Enterprise High School graduates go directly to 4-year colleges, while 52% go on to junior/community/technical colleges. In addition to the 78% of college-bound graduates, 10% of the graduates begin full-time service in the military with anticipation of earning a post-secondary degree. Recent graduating classes have averaged over $2 million per year in scholarships.

 

Students at the 3 junior high schools have won numerous awards at regional and statewide academic competitions, ranging from science and social studies fairs to math tournaments, art exhibits, and computer science fairs.

Special education programs offer the finest of professional services to those with specific learning disabilities, the educable mentally retarded, trainable mentally retarded, speech/hearing impaired, emotionally conflicted, talented and gifted.

To ensure both the physical and emotional well being of students, the Enterprise City Schools have placed cleanliness, upkeep, and security of buildings and grounds in a position of high priority. The system's Child Nutrition/Food Services Program has been recognized at the state and national levels for its award-winning breakfasts and lunches. Self-service programs are in place at each of the ten schools. For students residing one or more miles from school, transportation is provided by way of attractive, well-maintained buses.
